Tutorium to pgRouting

Hello everybody,

at http://www.selbstverwaltung-bundesweit.de/mapserver/routinganleitung.zip

you find a tutorium how to use pgRouting with UMN MapServer? and free geodata (so far it is in german, the translation into english will be there in the next week).

Thanks again to Anton :-)

Best regards, Kai

At the link in the Wiki:

could you please write that the tutorial is from Kai Behncke and Florian Thürkow ?

        Thanks, Kai

Danke fuer das Tutorial! I had a quick look into the document and it looks nice.

Currently I and Anton are trying to get data of several countries/vendors and test it with pgRouting. I didn't know yet that the FRIDA dataset of Osnabrueck can be used for routing. The data of Osnabrueck doesn't provide many road attributes. I could see road type ID, but is there any document with detailed explanations? I guess, there is no information available about one-way streets or other access restrictions, right?

      Hi Daniel,

I just had a look at the documentation of the Frida-Data. http://www.intevation.de/cgi-bin/viewcvs-freegis.cgi/free-vector-geodata-osnabrueck/doc/projekt-dokumentation.tex?rev=1.7&content-type=text/vnd.viewcvs-markup

      They have the following attributes:

streetsshapeid, streetdid, streettype, streetname, streetbroadness (Strassenspur), streetlayer.

There is no information about one-way streets or access restrictions.

        Hi Kai,

When I open the Shape file in QGIS I saw those attributes. Just I was curious to know what "streettype" ID represents which kind of street type in reality. Well, I don't know about the level of detail and completeness of the dataset, but if it even includes little roads and paths, it could be interesting for bicycle or pedestrian routing.

          Hi Daniel,

          the streettype-attributes mean the following:

          0 = not attributed, 1 = Highway, 2 = country road, 3= main road, 4 = minor road, 5 = way (??), 6= route with speed limit 30 km/h, 7 = street where children can play, 8 = pedestrian area, 9 = closed road, 10 = miscellaneous road, 11 = pedestrian way,

Don`t know what the difference is between 5 and 11.

          Beste Regards, Kai

              Danke, Kai!

Writing tutorials takes quite a lot of time, but they are so useful for learning how to use an application. So we really appreciate your work!

PS: It should be possible for every logged in user to edit Wiki pages. Or is it disabled? So if something changes (ie a link), you can just correct it there, if you like. I didn't want to restrict editing the pgRouting page and so far there was no spam or other problem.

Oh, now I see where to edit the Wiki, allright. Thanks a lot. Kai
